terms of use.
Last updated 20 September 2026
The short version
- Hosts create an event and are responsible for using oop! sensibly and telling their guests how it works.
- Guests take photos; after the host’s reveal, those photos are shared with everyone at that event.
- You own your photos. You let us store and show them to the event, and nothing more.
- Be kind and be legal. No harmful or unlawful content.
- Events are free for up to 6 people, and a one-off price above that. We’ll refund an upgrade if you change your mind before the reveal.
- We work hard to make it reliable, but please don’t make oop! your only photographer for a once-in-a-lifetime moment.
1. About these terms
These terms are between you and oop! (“we”, “us”), and apply when you use oop.camera, app.oop.camera and anything we run under them (the “service”). By creating an event, joining one, or otherwise using the service, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use oop!. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal data.
2. What oop! does
oop! is a disposable event camera. A host creates an event and shares a QR code or link. Guests join with a name and get a limited number of shots to take with their phone’s camera in their browser. Photos are hidden until the host’s chosen reveal time (or until the host reveals early), after which the host and the guests of that event can view and download them.
3. Hosts
- You must be 18 or over and give us accurate information. Keep your sign-in secure, because you’re responsible for what happens under your account.
- Tell your guests. Before or when you invite them, make sure they know they’ll be taking photos through oop!, that the photos will be shared with the other guests at the event after the reveal, and where they can find our privacy policy. Only invite people you’re entitled to invite, and only use oop! at events where photography is appropriate (not, for example, in changing rooms, toilets, or anywhere people reasonably expect privacy).
- You control the event. You choose the reveal time, the number of shots, and who gets the link. You can hide or delete any photo, and you can make a new guest link (which stops the old one working for new guests). Revealing early is permanent and can’t be undone, and the camera closes for everyone.
- You’re responsible for your event’s content and must make sure it complies with these terms and the law. If children attend, you’re responsible for checking with their parents or guardians.
- If you’re using oop! for a business or a commercial event, you’re responsible for any permissions and notices you need from guests.
4. Guests
- Use the name you’re happy to have shown beside your photos.
- oop! only takes new photos taken in the moment. You can’t upload from your camera roll.
- Photos are final. There’s no preview, no retake and no delete during the event. That’s the point. After the reveal, you can ask the host to hide or delete a photo.
- Be considerate. Don’t take photos that are unlawful, that invade someone’s privacy, or that you wouldn’t want taken of you.
- Photos you take become part of the shared event album once it’s revealed.
5. Your photos and what we can do with them
You keep ownership of the photos you take. To run the service, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, process (for example, resize, convert and remove metadata), and show your photos to the host and the guests of your event, and to let them download them. This licence lasts for as long as the photos are stored with us, and ends when they’re deleted (apart from copies that remain briefly in backups).
We won’t use your photos in our own marketing, sell them, or use them to train AI models without asking you first. If you take photos for a shared event, you also confirm that you have the right to share them, and that they don’t infringe anyone else’s rights.
6. Rules
You must not use the service to:
- create, share or store anything unlawful, including sexual content involving anyone under 18 (we report this to the authorities), or content that is hateful, threatening, harassing, defamatory, or that invades someone’s privacy;
- infringe intellectual property or other rights;
- secretly or covertly photograph people, or use oop! for surveillance;
- get around limits (for example, the guest cap, shots per person, or the delayed reveal), scrape, probe or attack the service, or upload malware or files that aren’t genuine photographs;
- pretend to be someone else, or use the service in a way that could harm it or other people.
We may hide or remove content, suspend or close accounts and events, and cooperate with the authorities if we reasonably believe these rules have been broken or the law requires it. Where we can, we’ll tell you why.
7. Reporting a problem
If you see content that breaks these terms or the law, or you want a photo of you removed, email hello@oop.camera with the event, roughly when the photo was taken, and what the problem is. We’ll look into it promptly. You can also ask the host, who can hide or delete photos directly.
8. Prices and payment
- Free for up to 6 people. Above that, hosts pay a one-off price for the event, based on the number of people they choose (up to 30, 100, 250 or 500), plus optional add-ons such as extra shots per person or keeping the album for good. Current prices are always shown before you pay.
- A “person” is anyone who scans your code and joins with a name. Once your event reaches its limit, no more people can join until you upgrade.
- You can upgrade an event at any time and only pay the difference.
- Payments are handled by our payment provider (currently Stripe) in pounds sterling. Prices include any tax we’re required to charge. We may change prices for future events, but never for one you’ve already paid for.
- Refunds: if you change your mind, tell us before your event’s reveal and we’ll refund any upgrade you haven’t used. After the reveal, we’ve delivered the service, so we can’t usually refund unless something went wrong on our side. In that case, we’ll make it right. None of this affects your legal rights.
9. How long photos are kept
We keep an event’s photos for 12 months after the reveal, then delete them automatically. If you bought “keep it for good”, we keep them for as long as we run the service, and if we ever shut it down we’ll give you at least 90 days’ notice so you can download them. The host can delete an event at any time, which removes its photos and links. oop! isn’t a backup service, so please download the photos you want to keep.
10. Availability and limits
- We work hard to keep oop! reliable, but we can’t promise it will always be available, error-free, or work on every phone or browser. We may change, pause or improve features, and we’ll try to give notice of anything significant.
- Guests’ phones do the taking. If a guest’s phone has no signal, shots are saved on the phone and sent when it’s back online. If they clear their browser data, close the app, or lose the phone before shots upload, those shots may be lost. Cameras also need permission and a working browser.
- oop! is a fun, informal way to collect moments. It’s not a replacement for a professional photographer, so please don’t rely on it as the only record of an event you can’t repeat.
11. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or anything else that the law doesn’t allow us to limit. If you’re a consumer, your legal rights are not affected.
Subject to that, we’re not liable for loss that we couldn’t reasonably have predicted, or for lost profits, lost business, or loss of data caused by things outside our control. Our total liability to you for anything connected with the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the problem arose (or £100 if you haven’t paid anything). If you’re a business, we’re also not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
12. Our rights
We own oop! and the oop! name, logo, brand and software. You can’t copy or reuse them, or reverse-engineer the service, except as the law allows. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without owing you anything.
13. Ending things
You can stop using oop! at any time, and hosts can delete their events and accounts. We can suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering the service (with reasonable notice where we can). Sections that by their nature should continue (like licences to photos already shared, liability and governing law) survive after these terms end.
14. Other services
If you sign in with TikTok, or pay through Stripe, those companies’ own terms and privacy policies apply to what they do. We’re not responsible for their services.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is important, we’ll tell hosts by email or in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using oop! after that, you accept the updated terms. Changes never apply retrospectively to events you’ve already paid for in a way that makes them worse for you.
16. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can deal with any dispute, although if you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also use your local courts. If something goes wrong, please contact us first at hello@oop.camera. Most things can be sorted quickly.
17. General
These terms, together with our privacy policy, are the whole agreement between us about the service. If any part is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce something straight away, we haven’t given up the right to later. You can’t transfer your rights under these terms without our permission.
